Deadpool First Impressions

I recently picked up the new Deadpool game developed by High Moon Studios, the guys behind the latest Transformers games and I'm not too pleased. The game has been getting mediocre reviews from journalists everywhere and at first I wasn't sure why.

Through the first bit of the game I really enjoyed it however, the more I play the game, the more I dislike the gameplay. It's a shame because I like pretty much everything else. The game has a over-the-top sense of humor. Some may be offended at the crude jokes but I'm finding the game pretty hilarious. I don't know, maybe that says something about my sense of humor. The game looks decent enough and the story is pretty stupid albeit strangely entertaining. The game has a plethora of upgrades which gives you something to go after. The problem is the gameplay.

At first I thought it was okay but the more I played, the more I began to hate the gameplay. It's pretty unresponsive and boring. The act of shooting is bad and the swords aren't as fun as they should be. The combos seem to do nothing against stronger foes and Deadpool takes a TON of damage. He regenerates health but you'll die so quick, in some instances that you wont get the chance to regenerate health. The camera is also abysmal. I really think they should have ripped off Devil May Cry's gameplay (anyone of them). That type of gameplay would have been so great with a Deadpool game. It becomes apparent though that High Moon has no clue how to do proper (or even decent) hack-n-slash.

I honestly don't think I'll even finish it. The gameplay makes me too mad to continue. It's not hard to go through, just frustrating and unimpressive. If you really need to play it, I suggest waiting on a price drop.
